Announcements
During the quarterly call on April 9, MDH received questions about facility self-reports and Enhanced Barrier Precautions from providers. We want to thank everyone who attended the call and asked their questions; listed below are resources to assist providers in understanding these guidelines.
Facility Self-Reports
We encourage providers to review the resources available from CMS, as well as the training that is available to through the CMS Quality, Safety, and Educational Portal (QSEP) training site.
Enhanced Barrier Precautions
The QSO-24-08 NH Memo Enhanced Barrier Precautions in Nursing Homes to Prevent Spread of Multidrug-resistant Organisms (MDROs) | CMS, included links to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) web pages with additional resources and continuing education webinars.
The Infection Control Assessment and Response (ICAR) team encourages providers to sign up for Project Firstline trainings and also provided links for additional resources:

The Minnesota Department of Health, Health Regulation Division (HRD) hosts regularly-scheduled informational meetings for long-term care providers and HRD staff who regulate and survey federally-certified providers.All nursing home providers and interested parties are invited to participate. The most recent call was held on April 9, and the recording of the session is now available for anyone who was unable to attend.

As of August 1, 2022, providers holding a valid license from a health-related licensing board (HLB) who has also undergone a background check under Minn. Statutes 214.075, shall not have a background study completed by the commissioner of human services (a NETStudy 2.0 background study).

Moratorium on Certified Boarding Care Home Beds
Minnesota currently has a moratorium (MN Statute 144A.071) restricting the establishment of a new certified Boarding Care Homes or the licensure of additional certified boarding care home beds.
License Renewal
Boarding Care Home licenses are renewed annually. Licensees will receive a renewal notification approximately 60-90 days prior to the expiration date of the license. If you do not receive a renewal notification within 30 days of to the expiration date, please contact Health.HRD-FedLCR@state.mn.us.
